USD2056 SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND VOLUNTEER

The concept of social responsibility, as the name suggests, refers to individuals’ responsibilities toward society. It can be defined as the fulfillment of the responsibilities that individuals must assume in order to maintain social balance within society. In other words, social responsibility refers to the coming together of individuals, civil society organizations, and the private sector in society to act toward a common goal without considering profit or personal gain.
Volunteering is a two-way process that contributes to the psychosocial development of young people. In addition to the social benefits derived from volunteer work, the interpersonal skills of the young people participating in these activities develop; they grasp the meaning of sharing, learn teamwork and cooperation, gain new life experiences, have the opportunity to meet people with diverse backgrounds, learn how to organize, become familiar with various institutions, gain a better understanding of society and the world, develop their values, and build self-confidence.
Social responsibility is carried out entirely on a voluntary basis and is aimed at encouraging society to do good, fostering generosity, and inviting people to be sensitive to specific issues. With a sense of social responsibility, it is possible to mitigate negative situations that may arise in society. Through this course, students will learn to address social issues, raise awareness among young people, and understand the importance of generosity and solidarity in carrying out volunteer activities.
