Goals Program Objectives To educate professionals who can explain the nature, needs, and performance of individuals in relation to daily living, productive, and leisure activities and tasks, and who can articulate the relationship between activity, health, and well-being. To train graduates who can analyze knowledge from biological, medical, human sciences, psychology, sociology, technology, and occupational therapy, and synthesize this knowledge with theories related to activity and participation. To prepare professionals who can critically identify activity and participation limitations, and work in a client-centered manner by using activities in prevention, rehabilitation, and treatment. To develop practitioners who can select appropriate theories and models to identify the activity and health needs of individuals and communities, and who can plan interventions through analysis and synthesis. To educate graduates capable of working to enhance social participation by creating accessible and adaptable environments. To prepare professionals who can work collaboratively and interdisciplinarily with service users, caregivers, team members, and other stakeholders to ensure roles and participation. To train practitioners who acknowledge and respect personal differences, cultural beliefs, traditions, and their effects on activity, roles, and participation. To foster graduates who can identify research needs in occupational therapy practice and/or related scientific fields, formulate relevant research questions, plan and conduct independent research, and sustain lifelong learning. To prepare professionals who assume responsibility for their interventions and perform them in accordance with principles of management, ethics, and quality. To educate practitioners who can take part in the quality improvement process of occupational therapy and provide information to stakeholders. To cultivate professional occupational therapists who embrace the role of actively contributing to the development, advancement, and promotion of the profession.
