Course Objective
The aim of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge and clinical awareness regarding anesthesia in dental practice. It is intended that students learn the basic principles of general anesthesia and sedoanalgesia, patient evaluation and preparation processes, anesthesia-related complications, and emergency management. In addition, the course aims to help students acquire theoretical knowledge about basic life support, advanced life support, anaphylactic shock, and postoperative care, and to develop an approach that prioritizes patient safety in clinical practice.
Brief Content of the Course
This course covers the basic concepts and historical development of anesthesia practices in dentistry, as well as general anesthesia and sedoanalgesia applications. The course content includes the definition and types of anesthesia, general anesthesia equipment, anesthesia circuits, drugs used in anesthesia, preoperative anesthetic evaluation, and patient preparation. In addition, indications and contraindications of anesthesia in dentistry, pediatric anesthesia, ambulatory anesthesia, anesthesia-related complications, basic and advanced life support, management of anaphylactic shock, and postoperative patient care are addressed.
