Course Objective
The aim of the Asynchronous and Synchronous Machines course is to provide electrical engineering students with the knowledge and skills to understand the structures of asynchronous and synchronous machines, their characteristics, operating principles, and typical applications.
Brief Content of the Course
Generation of induced torque in asynchronous motors, rotor slip, and the concept of rotor electrical frequency. Losses in asynchronous motors, power flow diagram, power and torque, starting circuits, and performing no-load, DC, and locked-rotor tests to determine equivalent circuit parameters. Synchronous generators and synchronous motors.
