Course Objective

Brief Content of the Course

This course is an introduction to the basic concepts and applications of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and its implications for agriculture and the agricultural industry. Typical IoT systems used on farms, farm equipment and cloud systems will be examined. Hands-on experience will be provided in key IoT components, including hardware (wireless sensors, controllers, computers and network devices) and software. IoT has great potential to impact the way individuals live and work by providing an innovative method for engineers/agriculturalists who want to bring a smart agriculture solution. The design of the IoT, which can be defined as "a network operation consisting of physical elements connected to the Internet and each of which has a sensor embedded", requires an understanding of embedded electronics, software, sensors, networks and data analytics. To prepare our students as pioneers of the future, this course will introduce a wide range of topics in the broad fields of IoT and provide experiences through a range of applications.
