Course Objective
The course on Hadith Sources and Criticism aims to not only introduce the primary Hadith sources but also to equip students with the analytical and evaluative skills needed to examine the words and actions attributed to the Prophet Muhammad from various critical perspectives.
Brief Content of the Course
The course provides an understanding of the concepts of Hadith and criticism, examines the critique of chains of narration (isnād) and texts (matn), outlines the key factors considered in isnād and matn criticism, introduces the scholars of criticism (munaqqid) in Hadith history, and discusses the criticisms of Hadiths in the modern era and their value.
