Course Objective
To impart an understanding of classical Western music forms, their structural characteristics, and historical development; to equip students with the ability to analyze musical works in terms of form and genre.
Brief Content of the Course
The concept and necessity of form; the basic elements of form in music; motif, phrase, period, and theme; song forms (one-part, two-part, three-part, compound song form, rondo forms); minuet, scherzo; theme and variations; learning international popular music forms.
