Course Objective
The aim of this course is to comprehensively examine the educational processes for families of students with special educational needs and to strengthen the roles of families in these processes. The course, framed within family systems theory, aims to ensure that families understand how they can participate in the education of their children with special educational needs, as well as their legal rights and responsibilities. Additionally, the course will equip families with the necessary skills and strategies to effectively participate in their children's educational processes. Tools such as individualized family education plans (IFEP), individualized education plans (IEP), and transition plans will be used to enhance families' contributions to the educational process. By the end of the course, students will gain competence in preparing, implementing, and evaluating effective educational programs for families.
Brief Content of the Course
The concept of family; family systems theory; the stages of adaptation experienced by families of students with special educational needs; the importance of family participation in the education of children with special educational needs, its theoretical and legal foundations, and the rights and responsibilities granted to families by law; family involvement in the educational process of students with special educational needs; the assessment of the student; family participation in individualized family education plans (IFEP), individualized education plans (IEP), and transition plans; teaching skills to families; the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of institution-based, home-based, and institution-home-centered family education programs."
