Course Objective
The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the role of operating systems in computer systems and to learn the working principles of fundamental operating system components such as memory, process, file, and input/output management. Students will gain knowledge about how an operating system allocates resources, manages processes, and provides an interface between the hardware and the user.
Brief Content of the Course
The fundamentals of operating systems, process and thread management, CPU scheduling algorithms, memory management, virtual memory, file systems, input/output systems, security, concurrency, and synchronization are covered. Practical applications focus on the use of the Linux operating system and command-line interface.
